Jonathan and Courtney met while on a camping trip with mutual family friends. On night one, they stayed up late talking together around the campfire. He lived in South Carolina, and she lived in Florida at the time. When they parted ways it didn’t take long for Jonathan to hop on a plane to visit her….after that, they haven’t lost touch since!!
Exploring the outdoors, camping, and hiking are all some of their favorite activities to share together, so naturally they knew they wanted to take a hike on their wedding day (bouquet and bow tie included…) and exchange their vows, just the two of them and God, in the middle of His creation. Courtney also surprised Jonathan with showing him how she had gotten pieces of two of his father’s blue shirts sewn into the inside of her dress in the shape of a heart as her “something blue”. Jonathan’s father passed away two years prior, so I loved how meaningful that was to both of them.
It was such a beautiful and intentional day for the two of them, and I am seriously SO honored to have been able to be apart of it, and celebrate the whole weekend with them and their closest friends! It was an overcast day, so unfortunately we weren’t able to capture any of the amazing mountain top views, but the fog still made for a beautiful backdrop.
Never be afraid to curate your wedding day to how YOU want it. Now how your family tells you it should be or what is “expected” or traditional. I promise it’ll be all the more meaningful.
