Two high school sweethearts, who met for the first time in drivers-ed their sophomore year, and quickly got to know each other the mornings they had gym class together. (Their last names both started with the letter “B” so they got to stand next to each other for attendance haha….Maddi said Dylan would always find a way to make her laugh in that short period of time they got to chat!) That began her huge crush on him, and after growing their friendship and becoming best friends throughout the following summer, Dylan officially asked her to be his girlfriend on September 10th, 2016 their junior year of high school! One of their favorite cheap date spots to spend time together was at the Dover Air Mobility Command Museum, where they would nerd out over the planes together…..but more on that later 😉
They shared their first kiss (which was BOTH of their first kiss btw) under the stars one night they were walking home together after a football game *AWWWWW*. These two cuties were pretty much inseparable after that, and everyone knew it! After they graduated high school, Dylan joined the army and went to Georgia for basic training. In the 4 months he was gone, they only got to share 4 quick 10min phone calls, BUT Maddi said she wrote him every single day so that he would always have mail to open. (BRB CRYING BC HELLO REAL LIFE NICHOLAS SPARKS STUFF OVER HERE)
After returning from basic training, Dylan and Maddi were once again visiting their favorite date night spot one December evening, and he surprised her by getting down on one knee in front of their favorite plane, the C-5A Galaxy! Flash forward a couple of weeks later, they were discussing the logistics of continuing to do long distance while Dylan would once again be stationed far away, this time in Fort Hood, Texas starting soon that January. What happened next Maddi described as being one of those moments where they both looked at each other and knew they were thinking the same thing: “Do you wanna just get married now?!” So you bet they did. Starting off the new year with excitement, they officially said “I do” on January 1st, 2019 exchanging vows and having a fellow (ordained) co-worker marry them at Maddi’s local part-time job!! (Because WHY NOT??? Celebrations followed at Buffalo Wild Wings) They were both relieved to get to move together to Texas, especially when Dylan found out later that summer he’d have to deploy to Korea. So they were both so thankful for the time spent together in Texas before he left!
Now, over a year later, these two have kept their relationship strong throughout a long deployment and multiple timezone differences, and are now continuing their life together in Fort Hood! When Maddi reached out to me about doing a couples session for her and Dylan and told me their story, I immediately fell in love. After hearing about where they got engaged and how special of a place the Air Force Museum was to them, I knew that would be the perfect location for their session…Maddi and Dylan immediately agreed! I’m so thankful to have been able to capture this season of their relationship in a place that held so much meaning to them. Wishing you guys all the happiness!!! xoxo
